Hearing aid financing: compare the total before the monthly payment
Understand fixed-rate payment arithmetic, fees, promotional terms, and the effect of a device return on a separate financing agreement.
See the monthly payment and total cost of a fixed-rate installment example. Promotional deferred-interest plans need separate review.
Enter the amount borrowed, the fixed nominal annual interest rate, the term in years, and any fee paid separately at the start. A twelve-month term is one year; six months is 0.5 years. This model assumes equal monthly installments with monthly compounding and no missed payments. It does not model a credit card minimum payment or deferred-interest promotion. Fees are added to the total, not borrowed; include a financed fee in the principal instead and do not count it twice.
All defaults are illustrative. Borrowing $2,400 for 24 months at a nominal 12% annual rate gives a payment of about $112.98 and about $311.43 of total interest. The calculator uses unrounded payments internally; a lender may round payments and adjust the final installment. At 0% with no fees, the same principal over 24 months is $100 monthly and $2,400 total.
For principal P, monthly rate r, and n payments, payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n). At zero interest, payment = P ÷ n. The term is rounded to whole months. The advertised APR can differ from the nominal rate when fees apply; this tool does not calculate APR. Ask the lender how a device return affects the loan, what late charges apply, and whether a promotional balance triggers retroactive interest. Do not choose medical care solely by monthly payment.
